Welcome Back Braai 2025 (Vaalgras)

We kick off 2025 with the annual Welcome Back Braai (WBB) event. A casual get together to start the year off in true LRON style gathering the family and welcoming each other back from the festive season.

This year we will be having this event on the farm Vaalgras owned by Paul and Cindy Meiburg. It is not our first visit to Vaalgras and those of you who attended the previous event there will remember the fun had by all in the wet veld.

It would seem that this year will be no different as Vaalgras has received good rains during early January and the veld is green. If the weather prophets are not wrong we may even expect rain at the event.

Anyway make sure not to mis this annual event and come and join the LRON family at Vaalgras for a blast.

While the WBB is a day event we always arrange a camping weekend for those who wish to enjoy time in the veld. For this reason entrants are welcome to arrive on Friday afternoon from around16.00 and stay till Sunday around 10.00

There are some “glamping” tents and also Bow tents available with beds (own bedding required), over and above the normal grassed camp sites with excellent ablutions and a communal kitchen of note.

All accommodation needs to be booked directly with the organizer Henry Bisschoff at secretary@lrovernam.com or wapp 0811245745 and will be dealt with on a first come first served basis.

LRON will sponsor two braai packs and salad per entry. Extra meal tickets can be purchased for N$ 150.00 per person. Farm Vaalgras sponsors the fire wood and the 4×4 trail drives (a big THANK YOU for that)

Please ensure that you bring along your own camping chairs, cutlery and crockery, hat, sunscreen, insect repellant (mosquito’s) etc.

16.00 Early arrivals
19.00 (till late) Campfire at Boma (self catering)

25 Saturday
08.00 Day visitors and campers start arriving. Set up camp.
09.00 Guests meet and greet.
09.10 Event opening (scripture reading and prayer)
09.20 Drivers briefing
09.30 Depart on 4×4 trail. (no difficult obstacles but we are in the Khomas Hochland) (ensure you have snacks and refreshments)
12.30 Arrive back at camp.
13.00 Coals ready for braai. (everybody braai’s their own food) (LRON sponsored braai packs and salad)
15.00 Depart on 4×4 trail.
17.00 Arrive back at camp. (Day visitors depart)
19.00 (till late) Campfire at Boma. (self catering)

26 Sunday
Morning at leisure
10.00 Depart for home

Please note, all refreshments, meals and other requirements are self catering. There is not a “tuck shop” available to buy anything.

Please bring a dustbin bag with you to cater for your own waste. This must also be taken with you when we leave.
